Betty L. Straub, 92 of Samaria, MI, died Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Arbors of Oregon. Born August 3, 1921 in Republic, OH, she was the daughter of George and Josie (Ogden) Paden. She married Robert W. Straub on Aug. 10, 1947 on Catawba Island in Port Clinton, OH. He preceded her in death on July 23, 2006. She graduated from The Ohio State University and then taught Home Economics at Hopewell Loudon High School in Seneca County, OH for 4 years. She was a life member of O.E.S., 391, Samaria, where she had been Past Worthy Matron and was active in the Monroe County Extension. Betty enjoyed traveling and her summer home on Catawba Island. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Samaria, MI.
She is survived by her loving children, Penny (Steven) Alexander, Polly Thompson and Ted (Donna) Straub. Sister-in-law, VieAnn Keller. 4 granddaughters, 5 step grandchildren, 15 great grand children and 1 great great granddaughter. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Jack Paden.
Visitation will be from 3-8 pm Friday, July 18, 2014, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where funeral services will be held Saturday, July 19, 2014, at 11:00 am. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
